GigE Vision Support
Photoneo 3D Sensors with firmware version 1.10.0 and above can be operated using a 3rd party application without PhoXi Control thanks to the GigE Vision standard. It is always recommended to use the newest available firmware version to have access to More information and GigE integrations are available at the 3rd party integrations.
Semantic versioning
Semantic versioning was introduced with version 1.7 in November 2021. The numbering scheme uses the MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH numbers. For example, for PhoXi Control / PhoXi SDK version 1.9.1, the major number is 1, the minor is 9, and the patch number is 1.
The MAJOR version will change with incompatible API changes
The MINOR version will introduce new functionality in a backward-compatible manner
The PATCH version will change only for bug fixes or inevitable HW compatibility fixes. This number can be updated without announcement, and the patch number won’t be generally referred to
PhoXi Control - Photoneo 3D Sensor compatibility
PhoXi Control is an application compatible with Windows and Ubuntu that acts as a driver for the Photoneo 3D Sensors, providing both a graphical user interface and API. Firmware is the software running on the device. This document provides an overview of the PhoXi Control versions and their compatibility with Photoneo 3D Sensors.

Devices are always shipped with the latest FW version. The device cannot operate on a version lower than it was produced with.
Minimal firmware versions
Photoneo continuously updates the Hardware, Firmware, and Software of the solutions in line with customer and market requirements. These updates provide full backward compatibility for our customers with an installed base while enabling Photoneo to react swiftly with inevitable component-level variations. In line with technology advancement, there are required corresponding minimal Firmware versions.

PhoXi Control - API Compatibility
In general, the PhoXi Control version needs to be the same or higher than the API version. For example, if your application was built with the API version 1.7.5, you can use PhoXi Control 1.7.5 and higher. However, if the API version is lower than 1.7.5 (e.g. 1.4.1, 1.2.35), the project will need to be rebuilt in order to use it with PhoXi Control equal to or higher than 1.7.5.
